THE ARTIST BEHIND THE CANVAS

Hi I'm Aabidah Rakhange but you can call me Abibi. I was born with a paintbrush in my hand…say people who think that’s what it takes to paint! I, however, simply enjoyed raiding my mother’s makeup and later on illustrating my own poems.

With my roots set in India but my whole life spent in the UAE, home to me is feeling foreign in my motherland and familiar in a foreign land. 

Growing up, pursuing art as a career felt difficult because of the stigma around it in the South Asian community, so I turned to architecture as a compromise. But I quickly learned that I’m not someone who compromises on passion.

Today, I reflect my third culture child experience through art and fashion, building a community on social media and inspiring others to embrace their creativity unapologetically.
